Kazan Arena football stadium hosts football matches, especially Rubin Kazan’s home games in the Russian Premier League. The stadium hosted the 2013 Summer Universiade football competition, the 2015 World Aquatics Championships and will host the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2018 FIFA World Cup. Its capacity is around 45,379. Also, the stadium has the largest outside screen in Europe. In winter, the area around the stadium usually becomes the largest skating rink in Kazan. Kazan International Horse Racing complex is one of the largest in Europe and the only complex of such a level in Russia. The distance from Kazan is just over 30 km up to the Volga. Sviyazhsk was founded in 1551 as a fortress which was built within 4 weeks. It became a military base of ther Russian army during the siege of Kazan in 1552. Now it’s historical and cultural gem of the Republic of Tatartan. The complex of city buildings includes the works of Ivan Shiryaj and Postnik Yakovlev, who is well known as one of the builders of Saint Basil's Cathedral on Red Square in Moscow. Yelabuga is located on the right bank of the Kama River and 200 km (120 mi) east from Kazan. Its history dates back to the 10th century.  Here, at the very heart of Tatarstan, people live surrounded by history, with famous names and legends anywhere they go. The town is the birthplace of painter Ivan Shishkin. Nadezhda Durova, who disguised as a man, was a highly-decorated cavalry officer during the Napoleonic Wars died there in 1866. It is also where the Russian poet Marina Tsvetayeva committed suicide in 1941. The poet is buried at the municipal cemetery. Even in the pedestrian street of this town time seems to have stopped. There are no visible features of modern times here. Every building and every brick can tell a story.

The distance from Chistopol to Kazan is 144 kilometers, with 141 km to Naberezhnye Chelny, 586 km to Orenburg and 107 km to Begishevo international airport. The town’s area is 19.24 square kilometers and its population is 60.7 thousand people. First mentioned at the end of the 17th century Chistopol become a shelter for the Union of Soviet Writers, which included Boris Pasternak and Leonid Leonov. The town is notable for its watch plant, Vostok watches, which was founded in 1941.
